Ice Storm 2009

Texas got an ICE STORM this week. It wrecked havoc on our city. I got to work Tuesday and 5 minutes later the call came in that campuses and offices were closed for the day. So back home I went and picked up the house. Oh, and then took a nice, long nap...hee hee!! No work on Wednesday for me or the kids, so today I had to hit it hard. Then rushed home after for basketball games. Sawyer's team lost by 3 and Spencer's team won by, can't remember. Spencer had a great steal and scored a lay-up. He had four points total....yippee!!

Quaker!!

Quaker is starting to grow on me!!! He is quite the "talker" which usually starts around 8:00 at night. "Hi, Quaker! Step Up!! Quaker, Quaker, Chirp, Chirp, Chirp." At times, it seems like I am in the rain forest. And trying to watch TV, well, I am going to have to put the closed captioning on!! He usually settles down around 9:30 pm and then he sleeps. Blackberries are still his favorite, as are sunflower seeds, millet and green beans (frozen only, no canned). Ebo and he are quite close and Quaker loves to give kisses. I even let him KISS on me....I know sounds gross!! He is SLOWLY warming up to Sawyer and Spenc but prefers Ebo or me. Oh, how nice!! Ebo changes the dirty papers and feeds and waters him like a good little guy. This weekend we are hosing down the cage and ever so carefully using vinegar to get the blackberries off the wall. I love watching him get a drink of water. And maneuver around his home using his beak and claws. It's funny to watch him slide down the slopes of the cage. He almost goes at it like a kid sliding down the banister.

More Frozen Tundra Fun!!!

Snowbank+Shovels+Two Boys=TUNNELING!!!

Ah, yes....tunneling through a snowbank, layered up in the warmest winter gear that you can buy up in the frozen tundra of ND/MN.....priceless (er...not really...the gear doesn't come cheap!!) But the FUN!!! Hours and hours of tunneling, designing and arguing make for a great time!! And great smiles at the finished domain!! Only rule....IF YOU TUNNEL, YOU MUST HAVE A TUNNELING BUDDY!!! Cave-ins can happen at any time.....experience mom knows all to well about!!!
