Otterson's come to visit!!!

Rob, Amy, Chase and Dillon arrived for a visit May 22nd. This is the first night at the Hanson Hotel!!

Happy Birthday, Gramps and PaPa!!!

Gramps' birthday is May 31st. Here he is getting into the July 4th spirit for the annual boat parade at their lake in Minnesota.

Papa's birthday is May 24th. Here he is pictured with a Christmas gift from Nichol and Eric.

Oh My Goodness!!

Time flies when one is having fun!!! Or, should I say, live a busy life. End of school activities, Mom and Muffin day, Awards Night at Middle School, baseball practices and games.....the list goes on and on!!

End of school activities....Ebo...field day for 4th graders....as he said, "He so owned!!" on the races he was in and the blue ribbons prove it!!! Then there was "Play Day" for all of K-4th. Nice and hot for it.

Sawyer and Spencer's field day was more of a social event. GO figure!!! But they had fun!!! And yearbooks were signed.

Awards Night....Sawyer received achievement in basketball. WAY TO GO!!! Spencer was inducted into the National Juniors Honor Society. He was nominated by teachers and had to write an essay on "Helping the Community." He also received achievement in English and NJHS. We are so proud!!!

Baseball....practices and tournaments keep us hopping!!

Mom and Muffin Day with Ebo......blueberry muffins and Starbucks bottled Frapp.....Yummy. And strawberries too. And a very nice place mat and story to boot!!!

Summer Work Hours

Well, I made it through the first week of summer hours at work. The days are long but the reward is grand!!! See, summer hours are for 11 weeks!!! Now, down to 10 weeks!!! Hours are Monday thru Thursday, 7:30 am ~ 6:00 pm with a 1/2 hour lunch. Long, huh??? But, the sweet thing is-I get FRIDAYS OFF!!!!!!!!!! I have all kinds of projects, household duties and naps planned but am not going to beat myself up if those things aren't completed. Ok, NAP is a must!!!! Let's see.....brush dogs really good (they are shedding up a storm), go thru ATTIC (it mocks me everytime I walk by), Ebo's room (company coming Tuesday nite), get new/used bookshelves from director's (from work) house (better take some Advil), put my clean clothes away(UGH!!!), start seedlings(remember to water), and let's see........oh yeah, send MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS(me bad)!!!!! I'll give you an update.....maybe!!!!!

So, I received an email from Darla, a PTA mom and a baseball mom on Ebo's team, last night. She received this link for a seminar and as she was scrolling down.....HELLO, Abby and Ebo!!! LOL!!! Eileen, Hippie Girl, dear friend and secretary at work, is a picture freak!!! She has an IStock site and has been over to the house several times to take shots of the Hanson Five. Ebo's New Wheels!!!!

Sunday...rain and car wash???

Rain, Rain, Go Away.....S&S's baseball tourney canceled due to overnight rains so fields aren't playable!!! Knight's Car Wash still on!! Walmart was nice enough to let the Knights have the fund raiser in their parking lot. Car wash 11-4. Slow to start but when all said and done, 40+ vehicles washed, scrubbed and buffed. $1200 for the team. Not bad for 9/10 year olds!!! And of course, the sun comes out at 4:10.

Saturday....Soccer, Baseball, Baseball, Baseball and Baseball

Crazy describes how Saturday was for the boys and I. Sawyer and I are up and at em and out the door by 6:30 am. Way too early for a Saturday in my book. Sawyer has to be at Keller Middle by 6:50 to ride the bus, get this, two blocks to the High School for soccer tourney!! Our tax dollars at their best!!! Drop him off and head back home. Spencer up and ready to hitch ride with baseball teammate arriving at 8:30am. Ebo and I then get ourselves ready to head to soccer tourney. Drive thru McDonalds for breakfast for him and a hash brown and LARGE diet coke for me. Arrive at soccer game. My first game to watch. And watch, and watch. Soccer is a very long game. Sawyer played all but the last three minutes. He was exhausted!!! Ebo was bored silly!!! Game ended 4/4. Sign Sawyer out with coach so I can get him to baseball tourney 45 minutes away!!! First home to have Sawyer change out of soccer and into baseball uni and get Ebo's baseball stuff too. Drop Ebo off at teammates since his game is at 1 pm. Drop Ebo off!! Hit the highway and Sawyer takes a snooze. Arrive at baseball tourney at 11:45 am. Outlaws lose 6/2. I watch start of next game which is suppose to start at noon. They start late!!! I am to leave at 12:30 to get to Ebo's game which starts at 1 pm. I can't leave til I see both at bat. So I watch, and watch, and watch!! 1 pm leave for Ebo's game. Arrive Ebo's game at 2 pm. Dallas/Fort Worth traffic for ya. Knights battle but lose 9/8. Check on S&S's game....ended tied 4/4!!! Second game for Knights!!! It is a stressful game and lose 14/13. First and second loss for the Knights. Time now is 4:45 pm. Head home. S&S staying overnight at teammates....Ebo went with team to eat pizza and I head home to do laundry, straighten garage and pull weeds. Bed cannot come soon enough. More baseball tomorrow........first game 10:00 am.

Thursday and Friday

Ok....beautiful day on Thursday. Everything is so nice and green. Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming and the WIND!!!! I haven't had a "good" hair day, well, in a LONG time. Branches down in the backyard, lawn chairs tipped over, cotton fluff from Cottonwoods floating and landing on your eyelashes and hair. Ebo calls it SNOW!! He loves gathering it up. Oh, and it is impossible to sweep!!!

TGIF!!!! Hello almost weekend!!! Ate lunch with a friend today. Nice to get out of the office. Talked with Bear and still no turkey. Maybe Saturday? Sawyer had soccer game. They lost 3/2. Then S&S off to Southlake Town Square to watch a friend dance in a program. Friend is a "GIRLFRIEND" of one of their friends. I straighten up garage and found in my van my ND tax refund. Nice surprise!! Cashing that baby tomorrow. Don't know how I had forgotten it but could be that it was in a Ziploc that had slid off the seat and landed in side of door compartment. Still a bit windy but oh so nice out. Toodles til Saturday's update....I am tired just thinking about Saturday's activities!!!

Wacky Wednesday

It is definitely springtime in Texas. April showers bring May flowers, as they say!! Well, maybe it should be Texas lightning bring nervous parents at baseball games!!! With the rolling of thunder, pitches are pitched, bats are swung and outs are thrown but when lightning lights up the sky, METAL bleachers become empty and players run for the dugout. METAL dugouts.....not good. So they run for their cars. Coaches say don't leave, wait 15 minutes in cars. Half way to car, coaches yell game canceled. Wave see ya tomorrow at practice then. Coaches yell, "Got your baseball bag?"(which is still hanging in METAL dugout). Run back to METAL dugout while fighting the crowd who are exiting the park. Wait, where is Sawyer? Scan the crowd, spot him and yell, "You going with me or dad?" "DAD!" is the answer. Ebo and I bolt(no pun intended) for the van. Spencer?, right, he went with friend to church night. Lots of lightning and thunder but no rain.....Dakota dog thinks it is the fourth of July. The sky opens an hour later.....and why did we run the sprinklers this morning? Only in Texas, I say!!!

Tuesday

Well, Tuesday was not so much of a crazy day!!!! Everyone was up and at 'em and out the door on time!!! Woo Hoo!! Work was good, weather was muggy and hot, school was full of learning and no activities to run to. I had my last yoga class and have already signed up for the summer session. Barry arrived home from Lubbock and was busy getting hunting things ready for the turkey expedition. Boys took dogs for a walk, Sawyer and Dakota, Spencer and Shadow and Ebo and Ruger. No rat sightings.....PHEW!!! Everyone to bed and into dreamland!!!

And it is only Monday........

Life at the Hanson's is always busy!!! Running here and there, appointments, shopping, movies, sleep overs, games....phew!!! It is only Monday and I feel like I have run a marathon.

Barry left Sunday afternoon for Lubbock, TX for work til late Tues. nite. Then he leaves Wed. morning for Kansas to go turkey hunting (his first time looking for TOM or BETTY)and comes back Sun. Ebo has baseball game Wed. nite. Thank goodness it is in Keller. Thurs. all three have baseball practice and Saturday all three have baseball. Ebo a double header and S&S a tourney. Really need to get this cloning thing down.

So here is my MONDAY....work at 8am. First drop Ebo off at school at 7:40. Suppose to be 7:30 but when dealing w/Ebo on a Monday morning...I'll take what I can get. Arrive at work....work boody off and leave at 2:30 to get to Ebo's school by 3 to pick up. Then home cuz pest control is coming at 4 to take a look at the garage since Hunter Barry and Ruger discovered and trapped/killed a 14 inch NORWAY RAT. Yes, I have been squeamish too and watching my steps in the garage. ICKY!!! So pest man restocked the trap and off he went. Time to get to Sawyer's soccer game. Grab camera and I am off. Only to get there and they are done. DERN IT!!! Next game...I promise!!!

Get turkey drumsticks in oven. Homework with Ebo. A very painful activity-mostly for me!!! Ok, time for Samantha Who? and CSI Miami. Tell S&S bed NOW for 10th time and Sawyer informs me, now we have been home for 5 hours, that he needs his soccer stuff washed. So here I am at 10:30pm washing soccer stuff. And it is only MONDAY!!!

But am thankful for the roof over our heads and good health!!! And friends that help out in a moments notice....my angels on earth!!!

So with that Good Night and Sweet Dreams!!!

Ebo and Baseball

I guess I was being lazy when I posted the picture show but Ebo's baseball team qualified for nationals at a Super Series Tourney in Wichita Falls. They went undefeated!!! They played March 15-16. We spent the night at the Baymount Hotel. Gramps and Grandma Hanson were visiting so they got to see Ebo play.

Nationals are in July in Desoto, Texas. Yippee!!! Only 45 minutes away. Just need to figure out our summer schedule as the boys usually head up north to the grandparents for the summer. Ebo isn't going to be happy that he has to miss time up there. But what a great experience for him. He has gone thru it with the brothers twice as a spectator so to actually play will be great for him.

March Snow

Snow in Texas......the boys go wild. Flat Sam was sent to us by our lake buddy, Sam, from MN. He had some pretty fun adventures with the boys!!!

March + Snow=Fun in TX

Who would have thought that Saturday with the temperature of 80, that today, Monday, we would have snow!!!!????!!!! Thunder and lightning the night before. Rain throughout the day then the sleet started around 6 pm. Snow started falling around 8 pm and of course, the BOYS went crazy!!! All three of them were in the closet looking for hats, gloves, scarves and their winter coats. Needless to say, orphan gloves were flying into the "I can't find the other one" pile. The boys are so hoping for NO SCHOOL!!! High tomorrow is suppose to reach the upper 50s!!! Bye bye snow and hello, "Yes, there is school!!!"

Ruger isn't sure about the snowman. He was in a tizzy barking at it when let out for "last call for duty." And once back in the house, ran upstairs to the door to the balcony and started barking because he had a great view of the odd looking creature standing in the backyard. Glad he is a good, little watchdog but come on.....it's a SNOWMAN. I have a feeling he will show that snowman who is boss tomorrow by lifting his leg and "marking" I WAS HERE AND THIS IS MY BACKYARD!!!

Keller Knights 9U

Tonight was the Keller Knights 9U first baseball game or should I say first tournament. The team did a great job but didn't win. They play again Saturday at 5 pm. Ethan did a great job at right field and second base. He had a beautiful bunt and he turned the wheels on to first-safe-the ball was over thrown to first and he made it to second. He was stealing to 3rd when a pop fly was hit but he was half way to 3rd and couldn't make it back to second-out-dern it!!! He did a great job and we are proud of him. Go Knights!!!!

With Spring, Comes.......BASEBALL!!

We are gearing up for another season of baseball. S&S had their first tournament this weekend. It was a great experience for the team as they are a new team. There are some things that need to be worked on but as a whole, the team did a great job. The team is called the North Texas Outlaws. League play starts March 3rd.

Ethan tried out and made the select 9U Keller Knights baseball team. He is excited and his buddy, Ryan, also made the team. Their first tournament is this coming weekend. So the running has started and our weekends now will be spent at area ball fields.

I will post more about baseball as the season progresses.

Ruger is 1!!!

Ruger turned 1 on January 27th!! His first few months with us were, well, bumpy!!! But he sure holds his ground now. And he is a great escape artist!!!

My Cubby Buddies

I thought I would share with ya'll some of my other family members. My work family or as I like to call them, my cubby buddies!!! Since I spend 8 hours a day with them, they are very special people and lucky for me GREAT to work and be around, why not post!! Cedric, my supervisor or as I call Captain C, is very easy going and an AWESOME cook!!! For my b-day, made from scratch two cheesecakes-totally yummy!!! Susan, the first officer(main scheduler), is Ms. Coffee!! Her blue flowery coffee cup has been surgically attached to her hand. She also can do the three snap attitude thingy with complete sassiness(I think that is a word) to which I am so envious of!!! Eileen, officer hippie, keeps us all fully stocked on supplies and good laughs!! She is a very talented photographer and loves horses!!! Yee Haw!! And she also keeps everyone informed with emails!! There are more work members but I need to get some pictures and will post them soon. I am so lucky and blessed to work with these people.

Barry had another successful hunting trip this year as you can see from the picture!!! This buck will join the other TWO that are proudly hanging in the game room.

Thanksgiving Day

Hard to believe but we did get a quick snow shower on Thanksgiving Day!! All boys were upstairs and when I yelled, "It's SNOWING!!!" it sounded like a herd of elephants running down the stairs. Of course, the white fluffy stuff disappeared right away but at least it got us in the spirit of the holidays!!!
